To ensure your nights count toward the 20,000 points, keep these rules in mind:
- Direct booking is required: You must book your stay directly through the IHG website, the IHG One Rewards app, or by calling the hotel.
- No third-party sites: Bookings made through online travel agencies (OTAs) like Expedia, Booking.com, or similar portals will not earn the bonus.
- Minimum spend limit: Your room rate must be at least $30 USD (or the local currency equivalent) per night before taxes and fees.
- Paid rates only: Stays booked using Reward Nights or Points & Cash are excluded from this promotion.
If you book multiple rooms for the same night, you will only receive promotion credit for one room. Additionally, if two registered members share a room, only one member can claim the qualifying nights.

Since 20,000 IHG points hold an average value of about $100 USD, this promotion offers a strong return on your spending.
If you live near an inexpensive IHG property, such as a Holiday Inn Express, check their nightly rates. If you can find a room close to the $30 USD minimum threshold, the value of the 20,000 bonus points might exceed the cost of the stay. This makes it mathematically practical to book a room simply to trigger the bonus, even if you just check in and do not stay the night.

When to Expect Your Points
After you check out from your second qualifying night, the points will not appear immediately. It can take up to six weeks for the 20,000 bonus points to post to your IHG One Rewards account.
Keep in mind that these bonus points are only for standard redemption use. They do not count toward earning IHG Elite status.
