Earn 2027 Diamond Elite Status
IHG One Rewards has launched a targeted promotion allowing members to fast-track to Diamond Elite status. By completing 10 qualifying nights between September 30 and December 31, 2026, eligible members can secure this top-tier status through the end of 2027.
This offer requires an invitation to participate. If you received the email or see the offer in your IHG account, you must register before starting your stays.
How the Promotion Works
The standard requirement for IHG Diamond Elite is 70 qualifying nights or 120,000 qualifying points in a calendar year. This promotion significantly lowers that barrier to just 10 nights.
Once you complete the 10th qualifying night within the promotion window, your account will be upgraded to Diamond Elite. You will retain this status and its associated benefits, such as free breakfast and room upgrades, for the remainder of 2026 and the entirety of 2027.
To maintain Diamond Elite status in 2028 and beyond, you will need to meet the standard earning requirements during the 2027 calendar year.
Qualifying Stay Requirements
Not every hotel stay will count toward this 10-night goal. To ensure your nights are credited correctly, each night must meet a specific set of criteria.
Here are the strict rules for a qualifying night:
- Minimum Spend: The room rate must exceed $30 USD (or the local currency equivalent) per night before taxes and fees.
- Direct Booking: You must book directly through IHG channels, such as the IHG website, the IHG One Rewards app, or their customer care phone line.
- Cash Rates Only: Stays booked using Reward Nights or Points & Cash do not count toward this promotion.
Bookings made through online travel agencies (OTAs) like Expedia, Booking.com, or Agoda will not earn credit for this fast track.
Important Timing and Registration Rules
Registration timing is a critical factor for this offer. You must register your member number before you check out of any stay you want to count toward the 10 nights.
Stays completed prior to registration, or outside the September 30 to December 31, 2026 window, will be excluded.
If your stay overlaps with the start of the promotion, only the nights that fall within the promotional period will count. For example, if you register on October 1 and have a stay from September 29 to October 4, you will only receive credit for October 1, 2, and 3. The nights of September 29 and 30 will not be credited because they occurred before the promotion period.
Managing Multiple Rooms and Guests
If you travel with family or friends and book multiple rooms under your name for the same night, you will only earn promotion credit for one of those rooms. The single room must still meet the minimum $30 USD spend requirement.
Similarly, if two members who are both registered for this promotion share the same room, only one member will receive the qualifying night credit toward their Diamond Elite fast track.
Practical Strategies for Completing the Offer
Hitting 10 nights in three months is achievable with some basic planning. Based on how these promotions track, you do not need to complete all 10 nights in a single stay. You can break them up across multiple weekends or business trips.
Since the minimum spend is exactly $30 USD per night, this promotion pairs very well with budget-friendly IHG brands. Booking cash rates at Holiday Inn Express, avid hotels, or Candlewood Suites often keeps your out-of-pocket costs low while easily clearing the $30 hurdle.
Also, you can participate in other active IHG offers simultaneously. If IHG runs a separate double points or bonus points promotion during this same October to December timeframe, you can register for both. Your cash stays will count toward the 10-night Diamond requirement while also earning bonus points from the overlapping campaigns.
After completing your 10th night, expect a slight delay. It can take up to six weeks for the Diamond Elite status to officially post to your account, though it often appears much faster. If you notice missing nights, make sure to submit any inquiries to IHG customer service before March 1, 2027.
