Buy Finnair Plus Avios
Finnair Plus is selling Avios at up to 50% off from November 2 through November 16, 2026. A single purchase of 85,000 Avios or more gets the full 50% discount. Every purchase, at any size, also earns tier points equal to 10% of the Avios bought. Paying in US dollars, the top tier works out to about 1.09 cents per Avios. That is the lowest price Finnair has offered in more than a year.
This sale is a discount, not a bonus. A 50% bonus turns 100,000 purchased Avios into 150,000. A 50% discount keeps the Avios count the same and cuts the price in half, which works like a 100% bonus. Some early reports called this offer a bonus and said it could be bought as a gift. The official terms say it is a discount and that gift purchases are excluded.
Discount Tiers and Price per Avios
The discount depends on how many Avios you buy in one transaction. The 10% tier points bonus applies at every level, even on purchases too small to get a discount. Prices below are approximate per-Avios costs when paying in US dollars.

The table shows two price breaks to watch:
- 85,000 Avios: This is where the discount jumps from 40% to 50%. Going from 80,000 to 85,000 cuts the per-Avios price from about 1.37 cents to 1.14 cents.
- 100,000 Avios: The base rate drops again at this level. At 85,000 Avios, the regular euro price is €1,870, discounted to €935. At 100,000 or more, the regular rate falls to 2.1 euro cents per Avios. If you are near 90,000, rounding up to 100,000 lowers the cost of every Avios in the purchase.
- Purchase size: Purchases start at 1,000 Avios and go up in steps of 1,000. The maximum is 200,000.
- Posting time: Finnair says Avios post one to three days after purchase. Many purchases post sooner, but plan around the official window.
Who Can Take Part
The offer is open only to Finnair Plus members who joined before October 30, 2026 and who have at least 50 Avios in their Finnair Plus account. A new account opened now does not qualify.
The 50-Avios rule is easy to meet. Finnair Plus can be linked to British Airways Club, and Avios move between them for free. From British Airways Club you can also reach Iberia Plus and Qatar Airways Privilege Club. Move 50 Avios into Finnair Plus before you shop. Without that balance, the store shows full prices and no discount.
Three more rules apply:
- No gift purchases: The discount covers Avios bought for your own account only. Buying Avios as a gift for someone else is excluded.
- Annual limit reset: Finnair normally caps purchases at 200,000 Avios per calendar year. For this sale, the cap is reset. If you already bought 200,000 earlier in 2026, you can buy another 200,000 now.
- Deadline: The sale runs from 00:00:01 on November 2 to 23:59:59 on November 16, 2026, Finnish time (UTC+2). That is 4:59 p.m. EST or 9:59 p.m. GMT on November 16.
Which Currency to Pay In
Finnair lets you pick your payment currency on the Buy Avios page. Click the currency icon in the menu bar to open the selector. The regular price differs by currency:

When the sale opened, yen was the cheapest choice. In British pounds, the yen price came to about 0.79p per Avios, versus 0.88p in euros. On November 3, Finnair raised the yen price sharply. US dollars may now be the cheapest option, so check all three before you pay.
The store also shows a note that transactions are processed in euros. Exchange rates move every day. Look at the final amount on the payment screen for each currency, then choose the lowest one. Use a card with no foreign transaction fees either way. A fee of around 3% would wipe out most of the gap between currencies.
Buy Avios Promotion History
Finnair Plus runs these sales every one to three months. It usually alternates between a tiered discount and a tiered bonus. The table covers 2026 sales and shows the best price per Avios when paying in US dollars. Paying in yen came out slightly lower in several of these sales.

The table shows a clear pattern:
- Discounts beat bonuses: The 40% discount sales came in around 1.30 cents. The 50% bonus sales came in around 1.45 cents. A discount sale of the same headline size is the better deal.
- The cap was shared: The 200,000-Avios limit covered the whole calendar year, and bonus Avios did not count toward it. A member who bought the maximum in February could not use the later 2026 sales. This sale resets that limit.
- Longer-term context: The previous 50% discount, in November 2024, worked out to about 1.13 cents. The lowest price ever recorded was about 0.7 cents, and it has not returned.
Is 1.09 Cents a Good Price?
Most valuations put Avios at around 1.3 to 1.5 cents each. Buying at about 1.09 cents makes sense if you use them for a redemption worth more than that. Some options:
- Finnair awards: Book award flights on Finnair and oneworld partners, upgrade your cabin, shop in the Finnair Shop, or pay for services from Finnair partners.
- Other Avios programs: Link Finnair Plus to British Airways Club and move the Avios across for free. From there, you can use them through British Airways, Iberia, or Qatar Airways.
- Check space first: Purchased Avios can take up to three days to post. Find award seats for your trip before you decide how many to buy.
The price is low compared with every sale this year. Points can still lose value over time, though. Buying for a trip you already have in mind is safer than building a large balance with no plan.
Tier Points From the Purchase
Each purchase earns tier points equal to 10% of the Avios bought. A 200,000-Avios purchase earns 20,000 tier points. Finnair Plus Silver requires 15,000 tier points, so buying 150,000 Avios or more is enough for Silver on its own.
Finnair normally lets you convert Avios into tier points at a 3:1 ratio. Getting 20,000 tier points that way would cost 60,000 Avios. Here, they come with the purchase.
There is one limit. Tier points from this offer do not count as tier points earned on Finnair flights. Platinum Lumo requires flight tier points, so this purchase cannot cover that part of the Lumo requirement.
Expiry and Transfers
Finnair Plus Avios do not expire as long as your account has at least one transaction every 18 months. A purchase counts as a transaction. Buying now keeps your existing Avios valid for another 18 months.
Because gift purchases are excluded, the discount only applies to Avios bought into your own account. If you plan to share the Avios with someone, look up Finnair’s transfer rules and fees before you buy.
How to Buy
- Check your join date: Your Finnair Plus account must have been opened before October 30, 2026.
- Add 50 Avios: Link Finnair Plus to British Airways Club and move at least 50 Avios over for free.
- Log in to the Finnair Shop: Prices appear only after login. Open the Buy Avios page.
- Choose the amount: Pick 85,000 Avios or more for 50% off, or 100,000 or more for the lowest rate.
- Compare currencies: Check the final total in US dollars, euros, and yen, and pay in the cheapest one with a no-foreign-fee card.
- Pay before the deadline: The sale ends at 4:59 p.m. EST on November 16.
Final Thoughts
This sale offers 50% off at 85,000 Avios or more, 10% tier points on every purchase, and a reset annual limit. Paying in US dollars, the price is about 1.09 cents per Avios, the lowest of any Finnair sale in 2026. The yen price changed after launch, so compare currencies at checkout.
