IHG One Rewards has launched an “Up to 3X” points promotion for the final quarter of 2026. Members can earn double or triple base points starting with their second qualifying stay, depending entirely on which booking channel they use.

This promotion offers a straightforward way to accumulate extra points on cash stays through the end of the year. There is no cap on the number of bonus points you can earn.

Key Dates and Registration

To participate, you must have an active IHG One Rewards account and register for the promotion.

• Pre-Registration Period: September 17, 2026 – September 30, 2026
• Promotion Period: October 1, 2026 – December 31, 2026

You must register before completing a stay for it to count toward the promotion. Stays completed before you register will not earn bonus points, even if they happen during the promotion period.

Register for the promotion immediately, even if you do not have firm travel plans yet. This ensures you will not accidentally miss out on points if you book a last-minute trip later in the year.

How the Earning Tiers Work

The number of points you earn depends on the booking method you use. The promotion requires a “trigger” stay before you start earning bonuses.

Your first qualifying stay during the promotion period earns standard base points with no promotional bonus. This first stay must be booked through an IHG direct channel to activate the promotion for your account. Bonus points begin accumulating on your second qualifying stay.

Earning 2X Points

You will earn 2X points on your second stay and all subsequent stays if you book through standard IHG direct channels. This includes the desktop website or booking over the phone.

Earning 3X Points

You will earn 3X points on your second stay and all subsequent stays if you book through specific mobile or social channels. Eligible channels include the IHG One Rewards App, WeChat, and LINE.

Always book your stays through the IHG mobile app. It requires the same amount of effort as booking on a desktop computer, but it increases your promotional earnings from double to triple points.

Qualifying Stays Explained

Not every hotel booking will trigger the bonus points. A stay must meet specific criteria to be considered a “Qualifying Stay.”

Requirements for a qualifying stay include:

• A minimum length of one night.
• A total spend exceeding $30 USD (or the equivalent in local currency) per night.
• Booked directly through an IHG-owned channel.

Bookings made through online travel agencies (OTAs) like Expedia or Booking.com do not qualify. Additionally, stays booked using Rewards Nights or Points & Cash are excluded from this promotion.

If you book multiple rooms for the same night, you will only receive promotional points for one of those rooms. If multiple registered members share the same room, only the member who made the qualifying booking will earn the points.

Since the first stay does not earn bonus points, try to ensure your first stay of the promotion period is your shortest or least expensive booking. Save your longer or more expensive stays for your second booking onward to maximize the 3X points multiplier.

Calculating Your Points

The 2X and 3X multipliers apply strictly to your base points. At most IHG properties, members earn 10 base points per $1 USD spent on the room rate.

• 2X Earning: You receive your standard 10 base points plus 10 promotional bonus points per $1 spent.
• 3X Earning: You receive your standard 10 base points plus 20 promotional bonus points per $1 spent.

If you hold Elite status with IHG, your Elite tier bonus is calculated separately. The promotion does not multiply your Elite bonus points. Furthermore, the bonus points earned from this specific promotion do not count toward earning or maintaining Elite status.

Participating Brands and Exceptions

The promotion is valid at nearly all IHG Hotels & Resorts worldwide, but a few brands have distinct participation rules.

Six Senses Hotels, Resorts & Spas allow point earning and redemption, but some individual properties do not participate in IHG One Rewards at all. The Iberostar Beachfront Resorts portfolio is participating, but any properties located in Cuba are strictly excluded. Finally, Ruby Hotels are integrating into the IHG network throughout 2026, so participation will vary by location.

If you plan to stay at a Six Senses, Iberostar, or Ruby Hotel property, verify the specific hotel’s participation status directly in the IHG app before confirming your reservation to ensure it will count toward the promotion.
