Important Dates
You must register your account before completing a qualifying stay. The promotion operates on the following timeline:
- Registration Period: September 9, 2026, to November 13, 2026
- Earning Period: September 22, 2026, to November 22, 2026
Stays that begin before September 22 or end after November 22 will still qualify, as long as at least one night of the stay falls within the earning period.
Stays booked before the promotion was announced are fully eligible. There is no need to cancel and rebook existing reservations, provided the stay occurs during the earning period and you complete your registration before checking in.
Earning Structure
The promotion requires a minimum stay of two consecutive nights at the same property. A one-night stay will not trigger any bonus points.
Once the two-night minimum is met, you earn 1,500 bonus points. There is no limit to the number of times you can earn this bonus during the promotion period.
If your stay is at a property officially classified as a Marriott resort, you will earn an additional 3,000 points. This makes a total of 4,500 bonus points for a two-night resort stay.
These promotional points are awarded in addition to your standard earnings. This means the bonus stacks with your base points (typically 10 points per US dollar spent), any elite status bonuses you are entitled to, and the points earned from using a travel rewards credit card.
The base 1,500 points typically post to your account within 10 business days after checkout. The 3,000 resort bonus points may take up to eight weeks after the promotion ends to appear.
Stay Eligibility and Exclusions
This promotion applies specifically to paid stays booked directly through Marriott.
Award redemption stays do not qualify. This exclusion includes points redemptions, Free Night Awards, and Cash + Points bookings. You must book a standard points-eligible rate.
Rooms booked through third-party online travel agencies (such as Expedia or Booking.com) are excluded from this offer.
The promotion applies to one room per property per stay. If you book multiple rooms under your name for the same dates, you will only receive the bonus points for one of those rooms.
Certain brands and property types do not participate in this promotion:
- BVLGARI
- The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection
- Marriott Executive Apartments
- Owner-occupied weeks at Marriott Vacation Club, Grand Residences by Marriott, Sheraton Vacation Club, Westin Vacation Club, The Ritz-Carlton Club, St. Regis Residence Club, and The Luxury Collection Residence Club.
Homes & Villas by Marriott Bonvoy properties participate in the base offer. A stay of two or more nights will earn the 1,500 bonus points. However, they do not qualify for the additional 3,000 resort bonus points.
Practical Steps to Maximize Points
To ensure you receive the bonus points and optimize your return during this earning period, consider the following actions.
Register immediately. Even if you do not have immediate travel plans, register now. Only stays completed after you click the registration button will qualify. Registering early prevents you from forgetting later and missing out on points for a last-minute booking or an unexpected trip.
Check your earning preference. Members who have their Marriott Bonvoy accounts set to earn airline miles instead of points are not eligible for this promotion. You need to switch your earning preference to points in your profile before you check in.
Evaluate cash rates versus points redemptions. While this promotion requires a paid stay, always compare the cash price of the room against the cost to book it using points. If cash rates at a specific destination are exceptionally high, redeeming points for an award stay might still offer better overall financial value than paying cash just to earn the promotional bonus.
Verify the resort status of your hotel. The extra 3,000 points are tied to Marriott’s specific internal categorization. Use the resort directory on the Marriott website to confirm your property is classified as a resort before expecting the higher bonus.
Break up long stays. Because a “stay” is defined as consecutive nights at the same property regardless of check-in and checkout activity, a six-night stay at one hotel yields the same 1,500 bonus points as a two-night stay. To earn more points on a longer trip, you can book two nights at one property, then move to a different Marriott property for the remaining nights to trigger the bonus multiple times.
